Scouting in Taverham began in 1965 when the Group was formed with 6 scouters, 6 cubs and 4 scouts who used to meet in the Village Hall. By January 1966 there were 19 wolf cubs and 10 scouts and they began collecting waste paper for recycling and are still doing it today! They also secured the use of the land opposite the Village Hall and began fund raising to purchase it.

On 17th October 1971 a New HQ was opened – the Compton’s sectional concrete building was known as the Lewis hut and was expanded 3 times before being replaced by the new purpose built HQ in 2001. This was funded with a lottery grant of £357,000 and supports around 30 Leaders, 40 Beavers, 40 Cubs and 50 Scouts.
